อยากรู้ว่าคำว่า meme ในชื่อ MemeExpress ซึ่งเป็นระบบซอฟต์แวร์ที่ GotoKnow.org1 ใช้ แปลว่าอะไร คืออะไร
ตอนแรกนึกว่ามันคือ memo(randum)
ไม่ใช่แฮะ แต่ก็คล้าย ๆ ล่ะ มาจากคำว่า memory เหมือนกัน และเกี่ยวกับการ "ส่งผ่าน" เหมือนกัน
วิกิพีเดีย ให้นิยามหยาบ ๆ (แต่สุภาพ) ไว้ว่า
any piece of information transferable from one mind to another
"สารสนเทศอะไรก็ได้ ที่สามารถส่งผ่านจากความคิดหนึ่ง ไปยังอีกความคิดหนึ่งได้"
ชื่อ MemeExpress ก็ดูจะเหมาะกับ GotoKnow.org ดี :)

What is a meme ? A meme is an idea, or a particular way of thinking about what an idea is. A meme is a unit of mental information in the same way that a gene is a unit of biological information -- a metaphor of an idea as a transposon, a pattern of thought as a virus, a knowledge structure as a chromosome. Memes compete to spread their information though a social population in the same ways genes compete to spread their information content through a biological population.

1 GotoKnow.org เป็นระบบสำหรับช่วยจัดการความรู้ (knowledge management) พัฒนาโดยนักวิจัยไทยที่ ม.สงขลานครินทร์ นี่เองครับ ลองไปใช้กันได้ ผมลองเล่น ๆ ไว้แล้ว ที่ bact.gotoknow.org พูดง่าย ๆ มันก็คือระบบ blog นี่แหละ แต่มีเป้าหมายชัดเจน ว่าทำไปเพื่อจัดการความรู้ โครงการนี้ได้รับการสนับสนุนจาก สถาบันส่งเสริมความรู้เพื่อสังคม (สคส.) คนใกล้ตัวชาว TLWG ที่ล่วงหน้าไปที่นั่นก่อนแล้ว คือคุณ morning_glory :)
